PaperPanda is a browser extension tailored for academic scenarios, enabling one-click search and retrieval of paper PDFs with coverage of millions of research literatures. By clicking the panda icon in the toolbar, users can let the extension automatically find free available versions, eliminating the time wasted on repeated redirects due to paywalls and login requirements. It is ideal for students, researchers, and university scholars.

How PaperPanda Works

  1. When activated, PaperPanda parses the paper's DOI from the current page.
  2. It retrieves resources from open-access repositories and indexes, including OpenAccessButton, OaDoi, SemanticScholar, CORE, arXiv, and Internet Archive.
  3. Users can add their university library domains in settings (some are marked "in development/coming soon" in documents) for resource access; a "custom domain" option also allows configuring additional search entrances.
  4. Once a PDF is found, users can download it directly to their desktop.

Core Features

  • One-Click Retrieval: Instantly search for free paper versions with a single icon click, saving search and redirect time.

  • User-Friendly: Native browser extension with a simple interface, smooth operation, and clear download paths.
